The Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your
baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem
that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really
isn't. An alarm will sound alerting you to check your baby
only if she becomes absolutely still for 20 seconds and no movement
whatsoever is detected.
The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your
baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for
20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which
sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of
the baby's room, the portable Parents' Unit (Sound Monitor) will
pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds. In addition, the
Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature. If the Sensor Pad senses
movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't,
the ticking will stop.
Your crib must have a hard flat surface. If it does
not, just place a piece of masonite or a board under the mattress
and place the Sensor Pad on top of the masonite and under the
mattress. You may order the masonite directly from us. Be sure to
place the correct side of the Sensor Pad facing up.
The BébéSounds® Movement Sensor will give you the
peace of mind you won't get from just a sound monitor or even a
video monitor. And, this monitor is an excellent value. It is 2
monitors in 1 so you don't have to purchase a sound monitor.

Review of the AngelCare Movement Sensor and Sound
Monitor by babynavigator.com:
OK, at first we were very skeptical about this one,
but after testing it ourselves we were won over. This monitor is
cool! First, it is a standard sound monitor system that consists of
a battery operated cordless monitor (a power supply is also
provided) and a base unit that your plug in the nursery. This
enables you to hear everything in the baby's room. The sound is very
clear and did not suffer from any background static. This was very
important to us because in our tests we found that some of the other
brands had annoying background noise that would have kept us up all
night! It has three volume settings, but we would have preferred
that it have a standard volume dial like most others.
Now for the really unique feature. This monitor has
what Unisar calls a "Movement Reassurance System". This is a
patented technology that has been used in European homes for over
ten years. It consists of a thin plastic sensor pad that is placed
under the crib mattress. It is designed to detect all of your baby's
slightest movements. The idea is that if your baby stops moving for
20 seconds it will sound an alarm. Our first thought was that when
the baby is sleeping he will stop moving all of the time...not so!
It detects the slightest of movements. To initially test it we put
our hand just slightly on top of the crib mattress. We found it
impossible to hold it still enough for the monitor not to detect it
for 20 seconds. Even when we thought we were not moving it, it still
detected our hand. Twenty seconds after we removed our hand the
alarm would go off. This thing really works! If you are really hyper
and paranoid you can even set the unit to tic every time it detects
the baby move! We are not sure if this is good or bad, but it could
also detect when you baby has climbed out of the crib and will sound
an alarm 20 seconds later (That could make your baby's first climb
out of the crib a very memorable and alarming experience). Our one
complaint was that the cord that connects the sensor pad to the base
unit was a little shorter than we would have preferred. This monitor
is a little on the expensive side (around $100), but we have found
nothing else like it. If you are a paranoid, first-time
parent like us you will find it a lot easier to sleep at night (for
a few hours at least) and not have to worry about constantly
checking on your baby to see if he is "alright". We really like the
BébéSounds® Angelcare® Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor!
